Specialist Intervention Advisor
Hours: Part-Time 21 hours per week (Flexible) , Permanent
Wage: £10.19 Per hour

West Sussex (North Region & South Region Positions available)

An exciting opportunity to join the Specialist Positive Behaviour Support Service at Aspens.  The Specialist Intervention Advisor will work alongside our Behaviour Specialists to provide support to parents/carers with managing their child/young person’s behaviour.  Working directly with individuals primarily aged 0 -25 years and their families in order to promote, strengthen and empower parents/carers with strategies and skills to support their child with Autism Spectrum Conditions.

The Specialist Intervention Advisor may be required work in a variety of settings, in particular the home environment to develop, plan and participate in programmes of work with parents/carers, young people and children with ASC. This also may include work in community or education settings. The role will also include taking the lead in delivering siblings workshops and support groups to extend siblings knowledge of Autism and opportunities for them to gain support with day to day life with a sibling with ASC.

Essential Criteria:

  • NVQ 3 or equivalent
  • Experience working/volunteering with children and young people with ASC
  • An understanding of child development
  • Ability to maintain thorough reporting records
  • Ability to provide feedback and advice on implementation of strategies, both verbally and in written format
  • Knowledge of pan Sussex safeguarding procedures
  • Competent in IT (word, excel, and Power Point)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good data collection and analytical skills
  • Good organisational and planning skills
  • Able to build good working relationships and work as part of team and also be able to lone work
  • Motivated, dedicated and creative
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have use of a car

Ideally, our successful candidate will have a degree in, or be studying towards a degree in a relevant area e.g. Psychology, Social Studies, Autism, PBS, Health & Social Care, Education or equivalent qualification
